High-quality editing -- tailored to your budget

You've finished that book and you're finally ready to show it to publishers...but is it really ready? It's difficult judging your own work. You need an outsider's objective viewpoint -- but you don't want to spend a small fortune. That's where I come in. For one low price, I not only thoroughly line edit, checking for grammar, style and consistency, I also provide a written critique. This valuable feedback can help you with possible problems of plot, character, pacing or many other issues.

Editing has never been more affordable

My name is Mike Valentino. I hold two degrees from Harvard and I have been a successful professional book editor for 15 years. Working independently and free of corporate overhead, my fees are typically less than my competitors. For example, at 1.5 cents per word, editing a 40,000 word manuscript would only be $600. In some cases the price may be even lower, and paying in installments is never a problem. Just contact me with some details about your book (including the word count, if you know it) and I will gladly provide a price quote.

The Author / Editor Team

Am I the right editor for you? Let's find out. I would be happy to edit a small portion of your manuscript as a free sample. All you have to do is attach a few pages (or even the full manuscript) to an E mail either when you initially contact me or later, after we've discussed your book.  That is the best way for you to decide if we'd make a good team.

"Mike is my hero – he took my 'pretty good' writing and artfully elevated it to an easily publishable quality.  He quickly developed what I can only describe as a kind of rapport with my writing style that allowed his edits to seamlessly fold into my work."

“Aside from being one of the most talented, knowledgeable and thorough editors I have worked with, Mike excels at partnering with and listening to the client and going the extra mile to ensure the success of the project.
